The Michael family has been in the home improvement industry for decades. Joey’s parents, Barbie and Cooper Michael, brought their expertise from Florida where they served as sales managers for Apex — helping grow the company from $12.5 million to an incredible $170 million operation.

Learning from Big Company Growth (and Its Problems)
With over 12 years in the industry and experience at companies that grew from $10M to $100M, Joey saw firsthand what happens when businesses prioritize volume over relationships. He watched customers become “just another roof” and quality suffer as companies grew too fast to maintain their standards.
“I watched these companies grow faster in business than they did in people,” Joey explains. “There was more business than there were people to help get the business done right.”
So he built something different.

It’s the story of why he started this company – in his own words:
A Message From Our Founder, Joey Michael
I didn’t start this company because Columbus needed another roofing business. I started it because homeowners deserved better- better protection, better honesty, and a company that would still be there long after the last nail was placed.
I grew up in this industry. My family has been remodeling homes since the early 1980s, working on kitchens and bathrooms long before roofing ever became a division. By the time I was in high school, I was already helping on job sites—learning what real craftsmanship looks like, and more importantly, what integrity in this industry should mean.
Then in 2006, a massive storm tore through our town and everything changed.
Storm-chasing roofing companies flooded our neighborhoods – knocking on doors, making big promises, and preying on homeowners who were stressed, overwhelmed, and desperate for help. Many of them delivered subpar work, disappeared after the job was “done,” and left good people without warranties, accountability, or support when issues inevitably showed up months later.
I watched it happen to families I grew up with. That was my turning point.
I decided that if I was going to put my family’s name on something, it wouldn’t be another contractor chasing the next storm. It would stand for something completely different – clarity, honesty, and doing right by people even when no one’s watching.
So I went to work. I spent years learning not just the construction side, but also how insurance companies operate – so my clients would never be blindsided or left paying out of pocket for something that should have been covered. I aligned with top companies in Columbus, absorbed everything I could, and built a roofing and windows division with one mission:
Protect homeowners with the same care, respect, and attention I would give my own family.
